“We love beautiful products, we think organic and we believe fairness is never out of fashion” - Armedangels

Armedangels is a sustainable and ethical German brand, whose purpose is to create quality products, both in design and using sustainable and ethical materials. Rather than chasing the changing trends of the moment, the brand focuses on a value fashion: a fair fashion against the conventional fast fashion.

“We love beautiful products, we think organic and we believe fairness is never out of fashion” - Armedangels

Environmental responsibility

Act responsibly and protect the environment are fundamental values for Armedangels, which materialize in the choice of sustainable materials. The German brand uses only certified sustainable materials such as organic cotton, organic linen, organic wool and recycled polyester. Armedangels is certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for organic fabrics, a low environmental impact in manufacturing, and ethical working conditions.

Social responsibility

The brand also takes care of the ethical aspect of the production chain. Every worker, from the farmer in India to the tailor in Turkey, up to the designer in Germany, must work under fair and decent conditions. Armedangels’s clothes are Fairtrade certified and Fair Wear Foundation certified: the latter is a non-profit organization that fights to improve working conditions within textile plants.

Animal-free clothes

Sustainable, ethical and even vegan: 90% of Armedangels clothing is vegan. For those who care about animal welfare it is difficult to ensure that a shirt or a pair of jeans are really vegan. Even if the clothes are made of 100% organic cotton, there may be leather details, mother-of-pearl buttons or other animal products. The brand facilitates the purchase of animal-free products thanks to the PETA certification (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), a non-profit organization supporting animal rights.

Sustainable fabrics

ORGANIC WOOL Armedangels uses only organic wool, from certified farms, where the practice of mulesing is banned (mulesing consists in the painful removal of skin in the perianal area of the sheep, to prevent flies from depositing their larvae). Furthermore, organic wool is not treated with chlorine. ORGANIC COTTON For the production of Armedangels garments, only organic, non-GMO cotton is used, free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers. TENCELTM Lyocell Lyocell is a natural fiber, highly sustainable and made from FSC or PEFC certified wood pulp. Cellulose is processed with non-toxic organic solvents in a closed cycle process, which saves water and energy. The result is a fabric as soft as silk and with properties similar to linen, which keeps the body cool in summer and warm in winter. In addition, Armedangels uses 100% biodegradable Lyocell.
RECYCLED PLASTIC Plastic waste is now invading rivers and seas: why not give them a second life? From plastic, breathable, pleasant and durable fabrics can be obtained with great energy savings. ORGANIC LINEN Growing organic linen means abolishing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, as well as not using genetically modified seeds. The fabric thus obtained is soft, light and durable. ECOVEROTM ECOVEROTM is a sustainable viscose produced by the Austrian company Lenzing. The raw material used for this fabric is FSC (Forest Stewardship Councile) and PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified wood pulp. Production takes place locally in Austria, through a sustainable closed-cycle process, recycling most of the water and chemicals used.

Packaging made of grass

Using grass to make paper produces 75% less CO2 than using wood. According to the Armedangels philosophy, there is always potential for the development of new sustainable projects, not only in clothing but also in packaging. That’s why the brand has studied even more sustainable alternatives for its packaging, thus discovering the paper produced from grass. The transformation of grass into paper does not require the use of harmful chemicals, furthermore this process consumes 1/3 of water and 1/10 of energy compared to the production of paper starting from wood. This grass comes from the meadows surrounding the production factory, in the Swabian Alps. Considering the energy resources saved during the process and those saved fot transport, using grass as a raw material for paper generates 75% C02 less than wood. The meadows are unutilized ecological compensation lands, where flowers and mountain herbs grows, contributing to the maintenance of the alpine ecosystem. The paper and cardboard used by Armedangels are today made up of 40% grass and 60% FSC certified wood.
